How PSA® Vault™-to-Vault transfers work, step by step
PSA's Vault-to-Vault transfer moves a graded card that's stored in the PSA Vault from one PSA account to another — the slab never leaves PSA's custody and nothing goes in the mail. It's what makes a no-shipping card-for-card trade possible.
Summarized from PSA's own Vault FAQ and Vault Transfer Authorization Terms (checked Oct 2026). PSA can change the process; always follow what PSA shows you on screen.
What you need before you start
- Both collectors need an active PSA account. PSA won't create an account for the recipient.
- The card must already be in the PSA Vault and show in your PSA Collection.
- The recipient's email address and Vault ID. Both must match the same active PSA account or the transfer won't go through.
- Access to your registered phone — PSA verifies your identity and asks for multi-factor authentication (MFA).
Step by step: sending a card
- Log in to your PSA account on the web.
- Go to your Collection.
- Select the vaulted item(s) you're sending.
- Choose Transfer from the Item Actions options.
- Enter the recipient's email address and Vault ID.
- Complete the MFA step, then acknowledge the PSA Vault Terms of Service and the Vault Transfer Authorization terms.
- Click Transfer Items.
Per PSA, ownership moves to the recipient right away: the card appears in their Collection and they get an email confirming the transfer.
Things to know before you click Transfer
- It's final. PSA says completed transfers can't be reversed. Double-check the Vault ID, email, and which card you selected.
- PSA isn't a party to your deal. PSA only updates its custody records; it doesn't guarantee the other side of a trade.
- Fees and eligibility can change. We don't quote PSA fees here — check PSA's current Vault page and Vault Terms.
Listing a vaulted card on Card Inertia
Your card is already in the PSA Vault, so there's nothing to photograph or ship. List it by its PSA cert number — printed on the slab label and shown on the card's page in your PSA Vault (Collection → select the card). Card Inertia builds a Verify this cert on psacard.com link (psacard.com/cert/your-number) so trade partners can check the card and grade. You can optionally add an image link for the card from PSA.
Using it for a trade
For a two-way trade, each collector sends their side with their own Vault-to-Vault transfer. Agree on exactly which cards move, who sends first, and confirm each card in your Collection once it lands. Our guide to trading PSA graded cards carefully covers the order of operations.
Transfers are performed by you on PSA's platform under PSA's Vault Terms and Vault Transfer Authorization Terms (https://app.collectors.com/vaulttransferauthorizationterms). PSA may hold, decline, or reverse transfers or change fees. Card Inertia is not a party to transfers.
